Memorialisation requests and guidance around legacy profiles.
Digital memorialisation
Don’t let their social media disappear.
We handle the process of securing and memorialising a loved one’s social media accounts — so their photos, memories and profile aren’t unnecessarily lost.
Losing someone is difficult enough.
Trying to work out passwords, platform policies, death certificates, memorialisation requests and support forms shouldn’t be another thing the family has to deal with.
Chillingworth’s handles the process for you.
- No passwords required to start.
- One-off fee. No subscriptions.
- Money-back guarantee on eligible memorialisation cases.
Their profile is part of their legacy.
For many families, a Facebook or Instagram account contains years of photographs, comments, birthday messages, videos and conversations.
But after someone dies, those accounts can be left unmanaged indefinitely.
They may continue appearing in:
- Birthday reminders
- Friend suggestions
- Memories
- Notifications
- Search results
And without the correct action being taken, important digital memories can eventually become much harder to protect.
We help families deal with it properly.
We deal with the platforms for you.
You provide us with the basic information about your loved one and the accounts concerned. We then guide and manage the memorialisation process on your behalf wherever the platform permits it.
Requests relating to memorialising or removing an account belonging to someone who has died.
Other social accounts
We investigate the appropriate process available for the platform and explain your options.
Digital legacy review
If you’re unsure what accounts exist or what should happen to them, we can help establish the next steps.
How it works.
Tell us about the person
Complete the short request with their name, your relationship to them and the accounts you’d like us to help with. You’ll pay a one-off fee at the end.
We review the case
We check what each platform requires and tell you exactly what documentation is needed. No confusing support pages or chasing different platforms yourself.
We handle the request
Once we have everything required, we prepare and submit the relevant memorialisation requests.
We keep you updated
You’ll know what has been submitted, what is still outstanding and when the platform responds.
Simple, fixed pricing.

We don’t think you should pay us for a result we fail to deliver.
No memorialisation. Your money back.
If we accept an account as eligible for memorialisation and we cannot successfully complete the memorialisation request, we’ll refund our service fee for that account.
The guarantee applies where the account meets the platform’s published eligibility requirements and the required supporting documentation can be provided.
We cannot override decisions made by Facebook, Instagram or another platform, and some platforms do not offer memorialisation at all.
But we’re not going to take payment for an eligible memorialisation case, fail to do the work, and shrug our shoulders.
That’s the point of the guarantee.
Why use Chillingworth’s?
You could do all of this yourself.
The problem is that every platform has different processes, documentation requirements and terminology.
And this is normally being dealt with at exactly the time when you least want to spend hours navigating technology companies’ support systems.
We’re an independent UK IT consultancy.
We deal with the technical side.
You deal with what actually matters.
You do not need their password.
In most cases, families understandably don’t have access to every password belonging to someone who has died.
That’s okay.
A memorialisation request is different from logging into somebody else’s account.
We’ll explain exactly what information the relevant platform requires before anything is submitted.
What you may need.
Depending on the platform, we may ask for things such as:
- The person’s full name
- A link to their social media profile
- Your relationship to them
- Proof of death
- Proof that you’re authorised to make the request where required
- Your own contact details
If you’re missing something, still start the request. We’ll tell you what’s possible.
Frequently asked questions.
- Do you need the person’s password?
- Usually not. Memorialisation requests are made through the platform’s official process rather than by accessing the deceased person’s account.
- Can you guarantee Facebook or Instagram will approve it?
- No company can legitimately guarantee what a third-party platform will decide. What we guarantee is that if we accept an account as eligible under our guarantee and we’re unable to complete the memorialisation, the applicable Chillingworth’s service fee is refunded.
- Can you recover deleted accounts?
- This service is primarily designed to protect and deal with accounts that still exist. If an account has already been deleted, suspended or compromised, tell us during the enquiry and we’ll assess whether anything can be done.
- Can you remove an account instead?
- Potentially. Where the platform offers both removal and memorialisation options, we’ll explain those options to you.
- How long does it take?
- This depends on the individual platform and whether additional evidence is requested. We’ll prepare the request promptly, but third-party processing times are outside our control.
- Is there a subscription?
- No. This is a one-off service.
