Rebuilding Critical Business Software

Modernising a legacy operational platform while maintaining compatibility with existing business processes.

The problem

The business depended on a long-standing operational platform that could no longer be changed safely. New requirements were being bolted on, institutional knowledge sat with a handful of people, and the cost of getting a release wrong was a stopped operation.

The approach

We mapped the real workflows first — not the documented ones — then rebuilt the platform in stages so staff could keep working. Compatibility with existing processes was treated as a requirement, not a constraint to argue against.

The outcome

The company kept operating throughout the change, gained a maintainable codebase, and could finally add features without treating every release as a risk event.
